Avery And Allison

Allison Long — Director

Allison joined the Children’s Discovery Center in the Fall of 2015 from Houston, Texas.  She worked as the Teacher of the Preschool class for almost 2 years before becoming the Director in the Summer of 2017. She has a BS in Communication Disorders in Speech Language Pathology from Lamar University.

Allison is a nurturer as well as an educator, someone who encourages learning through exploration, and who understands the balance between what a student needs to feel safe and what they require to reach their potential.

Tess Vrska — Teacher- Pre-K Class

Ms. Tess will be the new Head Teacher for the 2017-2018 school year. Ms. Tess has a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from WGU and a degree in Communications from BYU-Idaho. Ms. Tess and her husband have three kids and they love spending time in the outdoors. Ms. Tess is excited to join our staff and to begin her teacher career in Early Childhood Education. Ms. Tess believes that utilizing our natural surroundings, can create a wealth of learning opportunities that can be tailored to individuals, at their own pace, guiding them through their own discoveries.

Lizzy Cooney — Preschool Teacher

Ms. Lizzy was raised in Pinedale, and considers it a blessing to raise her son here as well. Lizzy has been involved with the Children’s Discovery Center since January of 2016. She believes in creating a loving, consistent environment; one in which children will be heard and valued. She is aware of the crucial developmental stages children pass through during the ages of 3-4, and the importance of creating a foundation for lifelong health. Lizzy follows the Montessori belief of fostering independence in children, building upon their “spontaneous love of learning” through a nature based classroom. She is uplifted to be a part of such a beautiful space for the children in our community.

 


Tawni Deardorff

Tawni Deardorff — Toddler Teacher

Ms. Tawni has a passion for creative and imaginative learning, as well as play. Her class is full of excitement as her students explore and learn about the natural work around them. Ms. Tawni brings a bright smile and a compassionate, child centered instruction to her classroom. Ms. Tawni moved here from Oregon with her family in July of 2013. She has been a full time teacher, and substitute in the past, and we are happy to welcome her back for the full time Toddler teacher for the 2017-2018 school year.


Brianna Profile

Brianna Booth — Assistant Teacher

Ms. Brianna believes in the magic and importance of child-centered, project-based education, allowing children to explore their interests to foster natural curiosity and a love of learning. She grew up with the Montessori theory and has eight years experience working in educational programs.  In the classroom, Brianna especially enjoys integrating science and art activities, as well as exploring nature.  Ms. Brianna has a positive, friendly, energetic approach to all our daily adventures.

Brianna joined us in Fall 2014.  She enjoys spending time outdoors with friends, family, and her dogs, Kiah and Cooper.


Kalie Miles

Kalie Miles — Cooking Teacher

Ms. Kalie is thrilled when she gets to witness enthusiastic, imaginative, creative play unfold alongside the wonder of discovery. Ms. Kalie is dedicated to creating an environment where each child is healthy, safe, engaged, supported and challenged. Supporting the whole child approach to learning, teaching, and community engagement through her work in the kitchen and the classroom. Ms. Kalie joined us in Fall 2014.  She brings seven years of experience working in early childhood education.  She, her husband, and her daughter moved to Pinedale in 2011 from South Dakota.
