Caitlin Hakiel — Director

Caitlin is committed to making the Children’s Discovery Center a place for growing and learning in a warm, safe and healthy environment with an emphasis on child centered learning and positive socialization. Caitlin brings great energy, insight, and direction into the educational experience our children have each day.

Caitlin is originally from Pinedale. Her experience includes teaching in the Pacific North West, Europe, and Asia. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Fine ART from Western Washington University in 2005, and her Masters degree in Education from Woodring College of Education in 2007. She joined the Children’s Discovery Center in Fall of 2010.

Joanne Blair — Teacher- Pre-K Class

Ms. Joanne immerses her students each day in lessons of science, respect, nature, literature and core academic foundations, utilizing our natural surroundings to inspire learning, exploration and opportunities for experimentation and discovery.

Ms. Joanne joined us in Fall 2015 bringing 5 years teaching experience.  She has a Bachelors in Early Childhood & Elementary  Education with an ESL endorsement.

Allison Long — Teacher- Pre-school Class

Ms. Alli is a nurturer as well as an educator, someone who encourages learning through exploration, and who understands the balance between what a student needs to feel safe and what they require to reach their potential.

Allison joined us in Fall of 2015 from Houston, Texas.  She has a BS in Communication Disorders in Speech Language Pathology from Lamar University.

Kalie Miles — Teacher- Toddler Class

Ms. Kalie is thrilled when she gets to witness enthusiastic, imaginative, creative play unfold alongside the wonder of discovery.  Her class is full of excitement as her students learn about the natural world around them. Ms Kalie brings a bright smile and compassionate, child-centered instruction to her classroom.

Ms. Kalie joined us in Fall 2014.  She brings three years of experience working in early childhood education.  She, her husband, and her daughter moved to Pinedale in 2011 from South Dakota.

Brianna Oolman — Assistant Teacher

Ms. Brianna believes in the magic and importance of child-centered, project-based education, allowing children to explore their interests to foster natural curiosity and a love of learning. She grew up with the Montessori theory and has three years experience working in educational programs.  In the classroom, Brianna especially enjoys integrating science and art activities, as well as exploring nature.  Miss Brianna has a positive, friendly, energetic approach to all our daily adventures.

Brianna joined us in Fall 2014.  She enjoys  spending time outdoors with friends, family, and her dogs, Kiah and Cooper.


Lizzy Cooney — Cooking Teacher

Ms. Lizzy believes a child who is given healthy foods will receive a lifetime bonus of a stronger mind and body. Ms. Lizzy has been a substitute teacher at the Discovery Center in the past, and we were happy to welcome her to our full time staff in January 2016.   Lizzy is dedicated to creating an environment where  each child is healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged. Supporting the whole child approach to learning, teaching, and community engagement through her work in the kitchen and classroom.


Tawni Deardorff — Substitute Teacher

Ms.Tawni has a true love for being with and learning from young children. Ms. Tawni believes children learn best when they have the freedom to make choices, to develop relationships by sharing with others, and to interact with stimulating materials in developmentally appropriate activities.  She joined us in January of 2014.

Ms. Tawni comes from a large family who live in the Pinedale area, and enjoys spending time out of doors with her friends and family.
